Group.  Our team provides the necessary program management, quality assurance, configuration management, as well as human and technical engineering capabilities to quickly respond to mission needs of Hill AFB and productivity of base personnel.   In addition, we provide support for all technical tasks to ensure the appropriate management controls are in place so that all contract deliverables are completed on time. Our network support personnel are all DoD 8570 - Comptia Security+ Certified and hold current Secret Level Security clearances.

Project Management

Rylex provides full-time Project Management.  The Project Manager monitors and coordinates on the status of project deliverables, tracks the quality of our work products and gauges overall customer satisfaction.  In addition, he/she has total oversight of all technical and functional activities required for the successful integration of network related projects assigned as part of this task order.  For each integration task, his/her approach is to obtain clear direction from the customer on what the goals and the objectives of the task are. Then he/she prepares an integration plan that details our technical approach, schedules all tasks, identifies risks, and coordinates integration activities with network engineers and managers.

Video Broadcast and Distribution

The Rylex network support team designed and developed the currently used ETV video broadcast system and are the local experts regarding ETV video-capture and distribution.  The system provides video services such as local origination video production, broadcast of Safety Training programs, and Information Security training. etc.  Our staff has teamed with Government TRS production crews on numerous occasions to provide base network users with live and tape delayed coverage of Commanders Calls, ORI out-briefs and Security awareness training.
Script Programming and Network Tool Development - Our staff has the capability to design and maintain Pearl Scripts in conjunction with the BNCC database.  We have the expertise and experience necessary to interface these scripts with network equipment and inventory databases.  Our engineers work closely with Government engineers in the development of web tools incorporating Pearl, PHP and ASP coding that significantly aids in the daily support and management of network systems and equipment.

Test and Evaluation

Rylex conducts tests and evaluation of communication networks and assist Government engineers and technicians in diagnosing and troubleshooting network anomalies and communication problems. Rylex has the expertise to install, test and troubleshoot single and multi-mode fiber optic jumper cables as well as various category-5 patch panel cables.  We perform monthly Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMI) according to the location and schedule.  We have a strong history of PMI work and possess the organization and technical skills needed to accomplish this action.

Requirements Analysis

Our Rylex network support team provides Requirements Analysis support.  With this we clarify project goals, coordinate schedules, identify risks and outline specific mitigation options. In addition, we develop and review specific technical tasks and assigned sub-tasks.  We also conduct site surveys to acquire physical and technical information needed to plan and carry out any network or system modification.    At the completion of any requirements analysis, we participate in the design or re-design of the network/components needed to provide enhancements or modifications identified and approved.

Help Desk Support (Tier 2 and Tier 3)

Rylex technical support teams currently provide PC / end-user support services to 40% of Hill AFB personnel.  Support operations use Remedy for trouble ticket input, resolution tracking, and reporting.  Support is provided through service desk phone and email response, remote desktop tools and hands-on field support.  SMS is used in conjunction with Network Support Administrators at the NCC to push general configurations and system-wide updates.  Rylex supports the Hill AFB PC depot initiative.  A central PC warehouse is used for receiving new PC’s.  Within the warehouse operation, technicians apply standard desktop configurations specific to organization requirements and ready equipment for delivery.  Rylex personnel deliver new equipment to organizations’ equipment account custodians, change out the obsolete equipment, and return obsolete equipment to the warehouse for degaussing and storage prior to reutilization or recycling.  Field technicians connect the new equipment to the Hill AFB network.  Service desk personnel assign file, server and network access, and assist the user in completing all start up operations as quickly as possible, facilitating a return to operability with minimal downtime.

Data Management / Conversion (DCAST/FHATS)

Rylex provides Senior Software Consultants with extensive experience in J2EE application design, development, sustainment and system administration as well as Oracle database and SQL expertise.  Consultants are well versed in WEB and Java Applet user interface experience, including JSP, JavaScript, HTML, JavaBeans, CSS and SQL.  Rylex develops, upgrades, sustains and provides support services for the DCAST and FHATS applications at Hill, Robins and Tinker AFB, providing support to nearly 3000 users in total.

The DCAST system processes over 80 million database records from 12 different systems on a daily basis.  Rylex maintains, upgrades and manages this system by applying an extensive working knowledge of the business rules of these 12 systems as well as an in depth knowledge of the data structures and relationships between these systems. Further, DCAST processes this data in a multi-threaded 3-tier environment.  Rylex provides the skills and experience necessary to manage, administer, maintain and troubleshoot this very complex system.

Rylex also provides training of the user base.  Simple navigation training is not sufficient to understand the vast amounts of data in DCAST / FHATS.  Rylex consultants have trained over 4000 users on DCAST / FHATS at Hill, Robins and Tinker AFB’s.  Rylex has become an integral part in generating the vast majority of the system documentation and user manuals, and continues to update the documentation as necessary.

Software Sustainment / Development (BMC REMEDY)

Rylex provides Senior Software Specialists with extensive experience in BMC Remedy application design, development, sustainment and system administration as well as Oracle database and SQL expertise. Rylex develops, upgrades, sustains and provides support for the BMC Remedy Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) suite, which is used AFMC-wide and administered primarily at Hill AFB.

Rylex maintains, upgrades and manages this system by applying an extensive working knowledge of the business rules as well as an in depth knowledge of the data structures and relationships between the various Remedy systems and applications. Rylex follows Agile software development methodologies using the standard BMC Remedy Admin and User Tools, TOAD, and SQL Plus and follows the Hill AFB Remedy Developer Standards and Guidelines. These guidelines involve a four phase approach to development on the BMC Remedy system: Planning, Design and Development, Testing and Release. During the development phases, Rylex creates documentation such as Technical Specifications, Test Plans and Implementation Plans. Development and testing are performed following the Test-driven Development (TDD) techniques. Rylex also provides guidance to the Air Force throughout the development life cycle and provides the skills and experience necessary to manage, administer, maintain and troubleshoot this very complex system.

Rylex provides analysis of the current Remedy processes to allow for process improvement and provides guidance to the Air Force in establishing the processes and procedures for managing the Remedy system. Rylex also provides guidance to the Air Force throughout the development life cycle and provides necessary documentation following established Air Force guidelines.

Communication Infrastructure Support

Communication infrastructure support team manages the planning, installation and maintenance of information technology communication equipment and connectivity across the expanse of Hill AFB. Technicians are highly skilled in communication wiring, utility connections, wireless network implementation, fiber optic installation and repair, and communication room remodeling.

Support efforts are directed at achieving an increase in network operability through upgrading existing technologies and replacing aging information technology equipment throughout the 75 Communication Squadron facilities. Technicians are currently implementing a wireless RFID solution in repair facilities to improve material and parts tracking and timely data collection. The system will help reduce wasted resources in the material procurement process and will assist in identifying areas of the repair processes that require retooling to become more efficient. Efforts are also focusing on upgrading aging fiber optic networks on Hill AFB and implementing a wireless network solution to provide supplemental and fail-over capacity to the existing fiber network.
